Dream It and Believe It

As 2019 ends, we often look to a New Year (or in this case a new decade!) to put forth intentions or resolutions to make positive changes in our lives. It’s a chance to let go of things that no longer serve us and make room for something different or something better. One small shift in perspective and one small change in the choices you make can shift your life.

The Law of Attraction states "You always attract into your life the people, ideas, and resources in harmony with your dominant thoughts." What you think about, you bring about. What you put your focus and energy into, will come back to you. Your mind is a powerful tool and the way in which you think about a situation or scenario can materialize into reality.

While New Year’s resolutions are often blanket statements of what we would like to see happen, we can take this even a step further by creating a vision board. We often have the best of intentions to have a better life or get into good shape, but our busy lives and constant distractions often derail even the best set of intentions. A vision board is a board in which you displays images, phrases and affirmations that represent what you want to be or achieve and have in your life. Creating a vision board will clarify your desires and serve as a reminder of the goals you would like to achieve. A vision board will help you maintain focus on your desires on those days when you let those little voices of self doubt and limiting beliefs creep in.

Here are some tips to help you get started on creating a vision that will reflect the life direction that you choose:

  • Start with a dry erase board (easy to add magnetic pictures), a sheet of Bristol board, or a notebook. If you don’t want to do the cut and paste method, there are vision board apps available where you can make your vision board from your computer, smartphone or tablet.

  • Choose images, words and phrases to incorporate onto your board that will help you remain focused and affirm what you want to achieve. Be clear and specific.

  • Choose an area to place your board where you will see it. This will help keep you focused and inspired. A visual reminder makes those goals seem within reach.

  • Be patient and not too focussed on the how and when. Let go and let the Universe do its magic. When you try and force an outcome, you could be limiting an even greater result. Always ask for “this or something better” and be open to receiving.

  • Once you’ve completed your board, don’t be afraid to go back and make revisions. Maybe you weren’t specific enough, maybe you decided to dream bigger. The great thing about this is that is can be an evolving piece of work.

I hope all that all of your intentions and goals you set manifest in 2020 and beyond.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year! (and new decade)
